Vreni is born into a cursed family where the women sleep... a lot. She is almost a century old in age, but has been asleep for half of it. Is there a way to kill this curse her family has been dealing with? Is there a chance to find love? Is she the only one who can break the curse? She has to find out.
This fun, enchanted, Sleeping Beauty like read was good for an old maid like myself, but would be great for a young teen looking to get lost in a magical world. I can appreciate the magical world Maclean has presented in the novel. The idea of a world where one sleeps while others are awake and growing older and more frail while trying to preserve their family secret is a good foundation for a great read. It seemed to move a bit too quick at times, leaving me with gaps of information, but it was not enough to deter me from continuing and may be overlooked by someone not looking for more.
This is my first read from Martii Maclean. I look forward to seeing what else she has out there and would recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick, fun read.
